Football Web Tips – Quick Guide to the Newbie Sports Bettor to Understand Football Betting

If the sports book is busy with action, it must be a football season. Whether it's NFL or NCAA, football betting action is fast and furious during the season. For the newbie sports bettor, it may seem a little confusing, but football bets really come down to two types-straight bet and parlay bet.

Football Match – Straight Bets

Here's the work show for any football player. Direct bet simply means that you know one football match. If you bet on more than one game on the same ticket, it's parlay and we'll talk about it for a minute.

When you make a direct football bet you might be betting on a side or whole. Simply put, when you bet by side, select the side of the game. For example, say that New England Patriots are playing Seattle Seahawks. If you bet on a side, you bet on either Patriots or Seahawks.

Every game has a score line (except NCAA football, which is most of the games). This is the number of points that scored between two teams. When you bet a total, you bet below or above the total. For example, say the total is 47 and you take over. To win, both points must be combined for 48 or more points (47 would be a push, which means you will get your bet again).

Football Games – Parlays

Okay, so you know about a straight game, which is where you bet only one for a while. When you want to bet more than one, it's parlay. You can bet on 2 – 20 items (depending on the sports book).

Say, for example, that you bet on Seahawks and over the whole of the label. It would be a 2-point parlay (even if technically there is only one team on it).

The more items you place on the ticket, the more money you will earn if they reach everyone. Of course there are more things on the ticket, the more difficult it is to win.

With parlay bet it's all or nothing. If one choice fails, the ticket is dead. Some sports books will run special deals to reach the end, but it is very rare.

If you get a football match through a parlay ticket, you might want to see "teasers", which are parlay tickets with more points for you. For example, rather than taking Packers -10, you could get them at -3. Of course, my withdrawals are reduced as the risk is minimized.

Football betting is a blast and there is nothing better than throwing the sportsbook with big winning tickets. I landed on football and parlays all the long time. I look forward to NFL and NCAA football seasons.
